As a golfer you most likely have received many golf related gifts over the years. I know when I was young I got some awful golf gifts until one year I told everyone to never buy me anything to do with golf ever again!
The problem is that not many people know your golf game well enough to buy you something that you will actually use or wear. On the other hand, maybe you want to buy something for the golfer in your life. There is that urge to buy something when it is a good deal, isn’t there?  Well, be careful, sometimes things can be too good to be true.
If you are going to buy one or more golf clubs for someone, please get some advice.  That great deal might get you a club that is not much use to the receiver.  When we fit a club we are looking at a few key factors:

– the length, which we don’t change very often, but sometimes it is very important
– the lie, which can sometimes be changed after purchase
– the shaft weight, material, and flex which is the engine of the club
– the grip type and size which is the easiest thing to change after purchase and not that expensive
– the head type, which can affect everything from feel, to shot shape to the height the ball will go

You might be saying, “he/she is not good enough for fitted clubs”.  That is like saying that  it does not matter what size of shoe they wear, or that they might as well use a small headed wooden racket to play tennis with, because they are not that good anyway.

Trust me, everyone has more fun when they play with clubs that  help the ball to go far and straight!
Please feel free to contact me or the golf shop if you need some advice.
